Nathan Biah — Fighting for Every Rhode Islander

Meet Rep. Biah

Rep. Nathan Biah (Providence, Dist. 3) is a Liberian immigrant who fled civil war by walking 90 miles to freedom. After earning degrees from RIC and URI, he became principal of Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School. In the General Assembly, he champions education funding, nonprofit property taxes, student financial aid, and school resource officers.

Priorities

Priority 1

Education Funding & Aid

Rep. Biah has been a leading advocate for expanding state education aid, ensuring students have access to FAFSA guidance, and growing the RI Hope Scholarship program. He believes every Rhode Island student deserves a fair shot at higher education regardless of their background or zip code.

Priority 2

Graduate Medical Education

Rep. Biah sponsored legislation to support graduate medical education programs and healthcare workforce development across Rhode Island. Investing in GME strengthens our healthcare system, creates good jobs, and keeps talented medical professionals in our state.

Priority 3

Nonprofit Property Tax Reform

Rep. Biah introduced legislation to tax nonprofit-owned property that is leased to for-profit entities. This commonsense reform creates a more equitable tax system and generates revenue that can be reinvested into Providence neighborhoods and public services.
